  • Numerous media picked up news coverage of a ruling filed by the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) upon reviewing hits on two Stingers football players during their game against the Université Laval Rouge et Or on Sunday, September 24. Rouge et Or player Kevin McGee was served a one-game suspension for a hit to the head of Stingers offensive player James Tyrrell. RSEQ officials, however, refused to levy a penalty for a controversial hit on Stingers quarterback Trenton Miller (MBA) during the same game. In related coveraqe, Global News Montreal aired a report on Trenton Miller's efforts to get people talking about hits to the head and player safety; TVA Sports posted video of an interview with Miller and a text story about recovering from the hit in the Quebec City game; CBC Daybreak aired an interview with Miller within this morning’s sports coverage (no link available) while Radio-Canada.ca mentions the hits on Tyrrell and Miller in a text story about prevention of concussions in football.
  • Le Journal de Montréal and Le Journal de Québec, in a preview of yesterday's football game between the Université Laval Rouge et Or and the McGill Redmen, noted the one-game suspension of Rouge et Or player Kevin McGee in the hit on James Tyrrell, reported above. 
  • The Toronto Star references the involvement of journalism students at Concordia in researching a news story about government and industry response to the threat of hydrogen sulphide gas emissions from fracking operations at shale oil wells. 
  • La Tribune and RDS.ca report on Saturday's 30-13 Stingers football loss to the Université de Sherbrooke Vert et Or. 
  • Sisyphe.org announces that Cherry Smiley, Communication Studies PhD student, Trudeau Scholar and founder of Indigenous Women Against the Sex Industry, will help mark International Day of No Prostitution by participating in a panel discussion organized by the group, Concertation des luttes contre l’exploitation sexuelle (CLES), at the Grande Bibliothèque on Thursday, October 5 at 7 pm. 
  • The Montrealer announces that performance artist Holly Ryan (BFA), currently working on a graduate diploma in computer science at Concordia, will give a talk about performance art, Tuesday, October 10 at 1:30 pm at the Unitarian Church of Montreal.
  • Radio-Canada.ca quotes Concordia design student Etienne Brunelle-Leclerc about his participation in a recent video game jam in Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez, north of Joliette.
