Call for Submissions: Spiffy Moves (Anthology of Critical Art Writing)

October 27, 2014

Spiffy Moves is a new anthology of critical art writing currently seeking submissions from graduate students at Concordia University. We are in search of short pieces of writing (maximum 1300 words) that showcase innovative and creative writing and research on art and related topics (popular culture, philosophy, politics, visual culture, media theory etc.).

Spiffy Moves especially welcomes experimental approaches to art writing by students. Contributors are encouraged to apply with a variety of formats including thematic essays, interviews, informal narratives, satire and all manner of experiments.  Our mission is to produce a smart, engaging, but above all enjoyably readable volume that deviates from the traditional academic journal model.

Please include in your submission:

  • Abstract (maximum 300 words)
  • CV or Short Bio and Contact Information

The deadline for submissions is Monday, December 15, 2014.

Complete submissions in PDF format can be emailed to:

The final anthology will be published in March, 2015.
