As part of MIGS’ plan to establish a Digital Mass Atrocity Prevention Lab (DMAPLab), we have launched an online crowdfunding campaign on Crowdrise and Indiegogo. Working at the cutting edge of social sciences and technology, the DMAP Lab will be the first of its kind in the world to analyze the impact of social media and new technologies on the prevention of crimes against humanity. We ask you to kindly share our initiative with your colleagues.

On December 10, Kyle Matthews wrote an op-ed on Nelson Mandela’s passing and the legacy he leaves behind: “Mandela's legacy still serves the interest of all humanity", Globalnews.ca

On December 12iPolitics published an article titled "Consider military support in Central African Republic, Dallaire says" summarizing Roméo Dallaire’s call for Canadian action in CAR.

Roméo Dallaire and Kyle Matthews were quoted in Nick Logan’s article titled "CAR crisis may not be the next Rwanda but still needs response: Dallaire" on Global TV News. A video of Roméo Dallaire’s press conference is also available on the same page.

On December 16, Kyle Matthews spoke to Camille Ross on Global TV’s AM Morning News about Nelson Mandela’s life and what to world should take from it. Watch “Mandela laid to rest” here.

On December 20, the Canadian International Council listed Kyle Matthews in their top 10 Twitter accounts to follow. Here is what the CIC had to say: “Tweeting in both official languages, Kyle is a terrific source for #R2P news and analysis, and also offers consistent, thoughtful commentary on world affairs. Recent discussions of note include Quebec politics, CAR developments, Syria, and Ukraine.”

On January 10, MIGS, in partnership with the U.S. Consulate in Montreal, Concordia’s Department of Political Science and the Canadian International Council, hosted Dr. Esther Brimmer, the former Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Distinguished guests included Marc Garneau, Louise Fréchette, Hélène Laverdière, and Alan Shepard, the president of Concordia University. Dr. Brimmer spoke about her experience working for the Obama administration with regards to the United Nations.
