Army Frees Girl, 11 Boys, 109 Other Boko Haram Suspects

- A breakdown of the detainees, who were personally released by Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, to Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, in Maiduguri, showed that there were 109 men, seven women, eleven boys and one teenage girl
- The Army’s 7th Battalion said in a statement that the detainees were released after being screened and cleared of complicity in the six-year old insurgency, bringing to over 400 the number of persons detained because of activities of Boko Haram that have so far been released in three separate tranches

- Soldiers of the One Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna, have killed no fewer than 10 suspected terrorists in various joint operations code-named, “Operation Restore Peace II” in the North-West zone of the country

NEMA Receives Another 551 Deported Nigerians from Cameroun

- The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with the Borno state Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA) has received another 551 deported Nigerians from Cameroun
- The returnees are to be camped at the Gubio road housing estate IDP camp set up by Borno state Government and the agency
- Over 5000 IDPs returnees are also expected to be transported to Maiduguri from locations in Adamawa state

Bomb Blast Hit Yola IDP Camp, 2 Feared Dead

- “There was a blast at Malkohi IDP (internally displaced persons) camp in Yola around 11 o’clock this morning (1000 GMT),” Red Cross official Aliyu Maikano said. State police confirmed the blast
- There were conflicting reports of the death toll at the camp, one of several in the capital of Adamawa state housing men, women and children who have fled the brutal, six-year conflict
- “There were NEMA (National Emergency Management Agency) officials, IDPs and some from the AUN (American University of Nigeria)” among the casualties, said Suleiman Mohammed, director of response
o No reports as to whether the bomb was planted by a Boko Haram member. No suspects have been named.
