  1. UN congratulates the FARDC for work against the ADF

  • UN Secretary General for the Great Lakes, Said Djinnit congratulated FARDC for their continuous work against the ADF.
  • ARDC, Army General Didier Etumba Longila agreed to expand and enhance cooperation between MONUSCO and the FARDC.
  • He also expressed for the possibility of MONUSCO and the African Union for the implementation of the declarations of Kampala and Nairobi.

 

2. MONUSCO and FARDC work together to release hostages

  • MONUSCO condemns the acts of kidnapping against aid workers in North Kivu.
  • FARDC contributed to the release of the hostages alongside MONUSCO.
  • Spokesman of the UN mission, Felix Prosper Basse argued on this occasion, there is validity to the cooperation between FARDC and the UN forces. 
3. Security issues in the Great Lakes

  • There is an increased security alert in the Great Lakes region due to an upcoming conference on investments.
  • The Minister of Foreign Affairs and international cooperation, Raymond Tshibanda exchanged with UN Secretary of the Great Lakes, Said Djinnit.
  • They reviewed talks regarding the Burundi problem; they seek the efforts of the African Union for a rapid solution to this crisis. 
4. Increased cooperation between RDCongo and the PNUD

  • Since Wednesday, there have been talks of the strengthening of cooperation between the DRC and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs and international cooperation, Raymond Tshibanda, and Mr. Abdoulaye Mar Dieye, Assistant Administrator and Director of UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa, discussed inequality, poverty and development issues.

 

5. Electoral training sessions in South Kivu

  • Hundreds of urban police officers and mobile intervention officers (GMI) were called to Uvira in South Kivu on November 2, to build on securing the electoral process.
  • The Congolese police were also in attendance of the training session.
