The CSLP congratulates Guillaume Jabbour, an MA student supervised by Owen Chapman, who has received grants from both FRQSC and SSHRC to continue his exploration of the practice of soundwalking.
Guillaume Jabbour is a musician and community sound artist from Quebec's Lower Laurentians. His MA research-creation thesis will explore how the practice of soundwalking at historical rural sites might build bridges in the community, bring different generations together and contribute to a sense of belonging among project participants.
Jabbour has received a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship-Master’s (CGS M) worth $17,500 that will cover 12 months. His FRQSC funding will top up his first-year funding by $2,500 and provide $20,000 for the second year (2024-2025) if required for completion.

Guillaume Jabbour est un musicien et artiste sonore communautaire des Basses-Laurentides du Québec. Sa thèse de recherche-création explorera comment la pratique de la marche sonore sur des sites ruraux historiques pourrait créer des liens dans la communauté, rapprocher les différentes générations et contribuer à un sentiment d'appartenance chez les participant.es au projet.
Jabbour a reçu une bourse d'études supérieures du CRSH d'une valeur de 17 500 $ qui couvrira 12 mois. Son financement du FRQSC complétera son financement de première année de 2 500 $ et fournira 20 000 $ pour la deuxième année (2024-2025) si nécessaire.
