Dr. Damba Lkhagvasuren speaks on why wage growth remains stagnant in Quebec

Dr. Lkhagvasuren addresses the reasons why the earning gap between Quebec and Ontario has started growing again in 2018. As employment increases in Quebec,  the share of less skilled people among the employed goes up. This shift in the skill distribution puts downward pressure on the average wage in Quebec. As the unemployment pool decreases, employers will eventually have to offer better salaries in order to attract workers; however, this process could take several years.
