Sustainability at Concordia

March 2026

Signs of spring are popping up at Concordia. Here's what’s coming up this March:

Engage with big ideas at packed conferences like Sustainability Across Disciplines, the Symposium on Indigenous Land-Based Educational Practices and the Youth Summit on Sustainable Business.

Prep for the season with a bike tune-up, design your balcony garden workshop or by celebrating seeds and urban agriculture at the Fête des Semences.

Try something new by volunteering with the community bike shop, at a greenhouse or with microgreen harvesting and seeding.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Concordia recognized among top performers in global sustainability index

The university has been featured in the most recent Sustainable Campus Index, an initiative of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) that highlights top-performing institutions across key areas of sustainability.

This recognition reflects Concordia’s performance under the most rigorous iteration of AASHE’s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS), version 3.0.

Among approximately 100 universities worldwide that submitted under STARS 3.0 — and as the first Canadian university to do so — Concordia placed first in transportation. The university also placed third in three additional categories: energy and climate, investment, and research.
