Bursaries

Review the availability, eligibility and selection process of undergraduate entrance and in-course bursaries.

The primary criterion for all bursaries is financial need.

However, financial need does not guarantee your selection for a bursary. Competition is significant and each bursary has different criteria which affects both eligibility and selection.

Entrance bursaries

The Entrance Bursary Program is designed to provide financial support to newly admitted students to an Undergraduate Bachelor's degree program in any discipline of study.

To apply to the Entrance Bursary program, an application form must be submitted online along with various supporting documents. Eligibility is determined following a financial needs test, a review of the candidate’s academic ranking as assigned during admission application processing, and a holistic appreciation of the applicant’s personal statements on the entrance bursary application form.

The Entrance Bursary application opens on March 3, 2024 to April 3, 2024.

The Entrance Bursary Program is for:

  • Newly admitted students to an Undergraduate Bachelor's degree program who joined Concordia in Winter 2024 and Fall 2024 in any discipline of study
  • Canadian and international students who have completed their most recent studies at a Cegep, Canadian high school, or international equivalent

If you are applying to Concordia as a Mature Entry Program (MEP) student with past independent studies at Concordia, you may apply for an Entrance Bursary.

The program is not available to newly admitted students with previous university studies, including transfer students. These students however can apply for the In-Course Bursary program.

Entrance Bursaries are primarily for students in financial need who are seeking financial aid for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Selection committee

Entrance Bursary recipients are selected by committees overseen by the Undergraduate Awards Office on behalf of the Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards Committee. These committees are composed of staff from a number of departments across the University.

Selection timeframe

The selection committee expects to begin a holistic evaluation of complete applications as soon as possible after the application deadline. The timeframe may be extended depending on the volume of applications. The Undergraduate Awards Office sends notifications to all applicants as soon as the selection committee has finished its adjudications and has final results available.

Selection process

In general, students must be in financial need and in acceptable academic standing before the committee will be able to review their applications. The committee's evaluation will include a review of the applicant's financial situation, their academic performance, and also personal statements and supporting documentation. Each application is considered and compared to its peers in the applicant pool.

Decisions on bursary applications are normally made in the summer term.
