Graduation checklist

Prepare to graduate! Yes, you've pulled all-nighters, scheduled study groups and written so many term papers your laptop might short circuit. But before you receive your diploma, there are four tasks you must complete first.

Apply to graduate

1. Apply to graduate

When you’re nearing the completion of your degree, you must apply to graduate before the specified deadline:

 Semester* Deadline Convocation date
  Summer July 15 Fall
  Winter January 15 Spring
*The semester you complete your degree requirements

How to apply to graduate:

  1. Log into MyConcordia.ca

  2. Click on “My Student Centre” located on the upper left-hand side.

  3. Under Academics click the “other academic…” drop-down menu and select “Apply for Graduation”.

See How to apply to graduate

Please take note:

  • Don’t wait until you have received your grades or have defended your thesis before submitting your application!
  • We accept late applications only for a limited period. We also charge a fee for late applications.
  • If you do not complete your degree requirements by the end of the appropriate semester you must reapply during the following semester.

2. Clear your account

Check your account and be sure to pay any outstanding fees, including library fees, before the deadline:

3. Check your approval status

We will post your graduation approval status starting:

Monday, October 26, 2020

You can check your approval status by following the instructions:

You will need to look for the credential awarded note on your unofficial transcript. It would say “credential awarded” followed by the confer date. For Fall 2018 graduates, the confer date would be 05/10/18. An example is below:

Graduate Credential Summary
Credential Awarded:
Master of Engineering
Confer Date: 05/10/20

Please note that this may be in a different place on your unofficial transcript depending on whether you have done other studies at Concordia.

If you do not see the Credential Awarded message on the indicated date, please contact Enrolment Services at 514-848-2424, ext. 2668.
