Teesri Duniya Theatre

Mission/mandate/about the organisation

Teesri Duniya Theatre is a Theatre company dedicated to producing politically relevant plays that explore life-affecting issues faced by people today. We aim to uplift the voices of historically marginalized communities by making the space for their cultural experiences to be reflected on our stage. Our plays connect communities, foster critical thinking, and generate cross-cultural dialogue. Indigeneity, multicultural diversity, LGBTQ+ consciousness, and interculturalism are central to the work we do here. Teesri ensures that stories of colour hold the space that is theirs to hold and tells them in a way that honours the sources they come from.

Context of the internship

Teesri Duniya Theatre has had many different types of interns in the past working within the company. We have had individuals involved in the production side working alongside local designers, actors, directors and dramaturgs learning hands on skills while participating in a professional theatre production. We have also had individuals working on the administration side working with the artistic director and other team members to learn about artistic programming, marketing and communications, and how a theatre company runs from day to day.

Teesri Duniya Theatre encourages those to apply who are interested in these realms of professional theatre, as well as those who have ideas for socially engaged community events or projects that align with our company mandate to bring the many diverse Montreal communities together. These could be round table discussions, workshops, play readings etc. We want passionate individuals who have a drive for community outreach, and a passion for impactful socially conscious theatre.
