St-James Drop-in Center

Mission/mandate/about the organisation

Situated in the heart of the Village, St-James Drop-In Centre offers a safe and supportive meeting ground for people marginalized by their experience of homelessness, mental health and addiction. Our mission is to create a co-supportive community. Our goal is that the community we create becomes a catalyst for creativity, compassion and empathy.

Context of the internship

Atelier St-James is the art hive created from the art programme at the drop-in center. We curate activities, workshops, exhibits, and outings centered around art and culture. We have a studio space, equipped with a a large art sink, along with a variety of materials designed to do facilitate numerous practices. We have experience in textiles, drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, and collage. We are prepared to welcome two students per semester to fulfill their practicum, as we are two coordinators for the program.

Contact Tristan Arsenault or Stephanie Talisse at atelierstjames@gmail.com for more information and indicate “Concordia Internship” in the subject line.
