Mission/mandate/about the organisation

MUTEK  is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination and development of digital creativity in sound, music, and audio-visual art. Its mandate is to provide a platform for the most original and visionary artists currently working in their fields, with the intent of providing an outlet of initiation and discovery for the audiences we seek to develop.

MUTEK’s principal activity is the annual presentation of its namesake festival, which has taken place in Montreal since 2000 and through a customized virtual platform since last year. MUTEK festival distinguishes itself as an international rendezvous for original and avant-garde programming. In terms of content, the festival’s range strives to be diverse, with interests in both the experimental and the playful sides of digital creativity. MUTEK’s programming intends to create a sonic space that can support innovation in new electronic music and digital art. MUTEK also presents its Forum, a 3-day conference on the most innovative practices bridging art, industry and research in technology.

Context of the internship

The internship starts in June part-time, grows into full time in August, for a complete presence during the festival. MUTEK’s 25th Edition will take place in Montréal from August 20 to 25. We are looking for a candidate who is versatile, creative and agile, but also passionate, committed and proactive..

Production/Technical Assistant

Under the supervision of the MUTEK Production Director, the Production/Technical assistant helps with advancing the various events, including helping with equipment rentals, filling tech and rider sheets and making various preparations so that the artists, technicians and venues have all the information and equipment required to achieve the highest standards of performance on the day of the event. The PA will also help at the Forum conferences, by coordinating technical and logistics resources for MUTEK’s lectures, workshops and online meetings. Candidates must have a true functional knowledge of French, written and spoken, and a strong ability to handle the small details of multiple events that take place concurrently. The position can be adapted to the skills of the applicant.
