Mission/mandate/about the organisation:

Foulab is an anarchist hackerspace committed to fostering an environment where members can freely share knowledge and explore innovative technologies.

Established in the summer of 2008, Foulab operates through active member participation and funding. It stands among the pioneering hackerspaces in Canada, alongside Hacklab.to and VHS (Vancouver Hacker Space), emerging shortly after The Last HOPE conference.

As the local landscape has witnessed a significant rise in the number of fablabs and makerspaces over the past decade, Foulab distinguishes itself by prioritizing community engagement and embracing subversive ideas, deviating from the prevalent "co-working" operational model.

The relationship between these spaces is a complex and multifaceted topic that sparks ongoing discussions. To delve deeper into this subject, more hackerspace theory can be found here.

Context of the internship

Foulab is dedicated to providing tailored internships that align with each candidate's unique interests and talents, offering a valuable opportunity to develop skills and gain practical experience in line with their individual aspirations.

Interns will be entrusted with a main project, supported by fellow members. They will oversee its development, from initial stages to completion.

Participants are strongly encouraged to pursue their own self-designed projects, fostering their personal growth and creativity. Additional tasks may include community outreach, grant writing, administrative duties, organizing workshops, and small-scale building projects.
