This fall, the Leonard and Bina Ellen Art  Gallery becomes a social club.

The Ellen Art Gallery presents Just Watch Me, an event initiated by Romeo Gongora. The social club Just Watch Me is a meeting place that encourages dialogue and collective creation in which the Concordia community is invited to take part. It fulfills multiple roles including: disco-bar, fair trade café, a venue for shows and screenings, an artists' residency, etc. Numerous free daily events and activities provide opportunities for the Concordia community to meet artists in a festive environment. Its concept was inspired by artists collectives from the Quiet Revolution.

Just Watch Me transforms the gallery into an immersive environment inspired by artist collectives from the Quiet Revolution period who impacted modernity in Quebec: the Mousse Spacthèque, the Fusion des arts group, the Fondation du théâtre d’environnement intégral and the periodicals Parti Pris and Liberté among others.

Comprising several performance activities and works, which involve the Concordia community and the public at large throughout the month, the event turns the gallery into a social club focused on dialogue and collective creation. It fulfills multiple roles including: disco-bar, fair trade café, a venue for shows and screenings, an artists’ residency, etc. Numerous free daily activities, including video- and art-making workshops, Yoga, Tai Chi, GROOVE, panel discussions, screenings, and conversations, promote immersive participation, discussion, and exchange on questions of identity in a festive environment. Guest DJs will perform every Friday evenings during the event.

Come join the festivities!
