Stiegemeyer joined Concordia University in August 2011 as a communications advisor, where he developed an overarching communications strategy for the Student Services sector.  In January of 2012, he was appointed interim director of student recruitment.

Prior to beginning his mandate at Concordia University, Stiegemeyer worked at the University of Victoria, first as a communications officer and later as the manager of the student marketing and communications. He also worked for five years as the communications coordinator for the University of Memphis before arriving in Canada.

Stiegemeyer completed his doctorate of education in higher and adult education in 2006 at the University of Memphis. His research focused on the impact of a new scholarship program on student persistence. He also holds a master of arts in communication and rhetorical studies and a bachelor of arts in communication.

“I am pleased that Matt will be heading up our university recruitment efforts,” says Tucker. “Matt’s broad experience in recruitment and communications, together with his background in higher and adult education, bode well for Concordia’s efforts to attract talented undergraduate and graduate students to study and contribute to student life here.”
