We joined international art educators for a day-long event where we discussed a host of topics concerning arts-based educational research, a/r/tography, artistic research, research-creation, practice-based research and more. Scholars presented dynamic, brief talks about research in progress, visual art dissertations, what constitutes arts research, how to define the merits of creative scholarship, and related issues, such as the sustainability of visual arts research as the roles of universities change.

This was a public event sponsored by the Department of Art Education, the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Office of Research at Concordia University, in conjunction with Centre for Oral Histories and Digital Storytelling, and with the generous support of a Connections Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
