This workshop by Raph will explore tactile image making and viewing with cameraless filmmaking. Participants will be invited to create textures onto clear 16mm film leader. They will experiment with various techniques of abstract animation such as painting, printing, drawing, and scratching. The prototypes created during the workshop will be projected throughout and a final edit will be created collectively.

This final piece will be integrated in a video installation as part of the Digital Intimacies Pop-up Exhibition. The workshop will be introduced by a talk on the capacities of these filmmaking techniques to connect sight to touch and thus shift understandings of appearance and visuality from and for a trans* politics of touch.

Members of BIPOC, trans* and queer communities will be given priority to participate. The talk will be given in English and the workshop in English and French.
