The activity is a simple brainstorming exercise for students to try and visualize their ideal workspace with a toolkit. The activity allows for participants to arrange and personalize their scaled spaces with some sketching and mood board development.

1: Introducing the activity and asking participants to imagine they are in charge of designing their own workspace

2: Choosing an activity that they want their space to fulfill (eg. meetings, lectures, performances, and social events).

3: Ask participants to build and sketch their ideas based on the activities they would like to accommodate.

4. Participants are given 10 mins to work on their design and then asked to share their ideas with the group

5: Discuss the different ways in which the room could be used and feedback from others on how the design could be improved.

The event encourages participants to be creative and reflect on activity-based workspaces.

This event is part of the MDES22 Research-Creation Show.

How can you participate? Attend the workshop in person (note there is a maximum of 25 people in the space).
