In explaining the thought process behind updating Arthur Hertzberg's 1959 classic, The Zionist Idea, this keynote will define different periods of Zionist thought - different schools of Zionist thought, some of the obstacles scholars and all others face in having a fair, clear-eyed conversation about this oft-targeted and delegitimized movement. This talk will be rooted in the history and philosophy of Zionism - but will be making relevant points about how we approach pressing political issues related to the Jewish people, Israel - and liberal nationalism, especially in the Age of Brexit and Donald Trump.

Refreshments will be served and signed books will be available for purchase.
