Peer-to-peer reflectionEmbracing self-compassion: Navigating the mid-semester slump February can be a tough month. Perhaps your passion remains, but the day-to-day reality of being a student – balancing school with work, friends, hobbies, etc. – never leaves you with enough time or energy to realize the eager ambitions you had at the start of the term. This is when I lean on self-compassion. Instead of falling into self-doubt or guilt for not living up to your expectations, being compassionate towards yourself can allow you to approach these challenges with a sense of openness and curiosity. During heavier moments, remember that university – and life for that matter – isn’t about being perfect, it’s about growth and progress. To grow, we need compassion and patience. Kristen |
