#CUpride: a Campaign for Concordia newsletter

Dear [FIRST NAME],

I hope you are enjoying the start of summer and that you share our pride that Concordia is celebrating its 50th anniversary over the year ahead. We kicked off our milestone with a video in honour of our champions and we plan to reveal one Great Concordian weekly, until June 2025.

I hope you enjoy this special edition of our #CUPride newsletter, which showcases our latest Campaign for Concordia supporters and community members who have advanced our institution in recent months.

Best wishes for a joyful summer,

Paul Chesser, BA 94, GrDip 97
Vice-President, University Advancement

Fundraising successes

Corporate partners, foundations and individual donors helped make the first half of 2024 a success for the Campaign for Concordia.

Christine Lengvari, BSc 72, is donating $5 million in a bequest to the School of Health, supporting nutrition and wellness research. The gift was celebrated in June.

A $4-million gift from Power Corporation of Canada was commemorated at a special event on campus in January. The funds will provide significant support to Volt-Age, a Canada First Research Excellence Fund program jointly led by Concordia.

A $250,000 gift from the Embark Student Foundation toward the Innovation Fund at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science will enable student-led projects with significant potential for commercialization.

Pride and engagement

President Graham Carr announced the launch of the Canada Scholars Awards, an initiative that will ensure the Concordia experience remains accessible to talented students across Canada.

A special video produced for National Volunteer Week 2024 celebrated the selfless Concordians who give back on campus and beyond.

On the eve of Concordia’s 50th anniversary, the university was recognized as a top 100 young university worldwide and, for the first time, the best young university in North America.
