Dr. Chunjiang An is an Associate Professor in the Department of Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering at Concordia University, and Concordia University Research Chair (CURC) in Spill Response and Remediation (New Scholar). Dr. An obtained his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Systems Engineering from University of Regina in 2013, M.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China in 2006, and B.Eng. degree in Environmental Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China in 2002. Before joining the department, Dr. An was the research scientist of the Institute for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Communities, and the Adjunct Professor of Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at University of Regina. His research interests include a broad range of topics related to pollution control, risk assessment and systems analysis. Dr. An is a licensed Professional Engineer, the Associate Editor of Journal of Environmental Informatics, Water, Air, & Soil Pollution, and Cleaner Waste Systems, Managing Editor of Environmental Systems Research, and editorial board member of 7 international journals such as Journal of Hazardous Materials and Environmental Advances. He is also the Guest Editor for 11 special issues in some international journals. Dr. An has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles. As the PI, Dr. An's interdisciplinary activities have been supported by many organizations such as Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and Fonds de Recherche du Québec Nature et technologies, with a total amount over $9M. He has served as the organizing/technical committee member and session chair for over 30 international conferences and symposiums. Recently, he organized some major events about environmental protection as the Chair and Co-Chair, such as PEOPLE 2023 International Conference, International Oil Spill Science Conference (IOSSC) 2022, and ITAC-MPRI Workshop 2021. He was also invited to deliver over 30 presentations in international conferences and workshops. His research findings have also been widely reported by Concordia University, CTV, Global News, The Hill Times, Quebec Science, etc.
