Mathematical Modeling and Optimization of Aerospace Maintenance Scheduling
This introductory workshop will provide you with the skills needed to design models for the Sandbox 3D printers. After completing this workshop you will be able to explain the basics of 3D printing and 3D design, design appropriately for 3D printing, modify an existing 3D design, and export a model for 3D design. No prior knowlege of design or 3D printing required. Although not a requirement, we suggest to bring in your own laptop or device for this session. This workshop is open to all.

Participants will explore concepts of consent, bystander intervention, and supporting survivors providing participants with relevant information and tools for action. Throughout the module, participants will engage in discussion about these concepts along with compelling scenarios to aid in understanding the nuances of sexual violence and consent. Finally, information on our policies and processes as well as internal and community resources is offered. This workshop is open to all newly admitted students and fulfills the mandatory training requirements for sexual violence awareness and prevention. The deadline to complete training is October 27th, 2025.

Dave Thomas will share his decades of experience building industrial programming language runtimes and environments. He and his colleagues created environments for embedded systems - Forth, OOC, OTI Smalltalk, Scheme, Java; enterprise applications – Honeywell Pascal, IBM VisualAge/Smalltalk, Java and Eclipse; as well as the Kx Analyst workbench for data intensive IOT and cyber-analytics. The languages span procedural, OO, functional and array languages. He has collaborated with implementers of V8 JavaScript, Dart, Toit, WASM, Erlang, APL, and k. Dave with provide us a look “under the hood” at the design and implementation choices as well as the practices used in the “language engine room”. He will explain how different languages deal with execution, garbage collection, libraries and IDEs illustrating their similarities and differences.

This is an introductory workshop for students in all disciplines who wish to better understand and include Indigenous perspectives in their research. The workshop will briefly situate the university library within settler colonialism in Canada, provide context to current research on Indigenous topics and include discussions around the limits of terminology and subject classification. The instructors will guide students to recommended resources for Indigenous topics and provide an overview of research ethics guidelines.

This workshop introduces graduate students to Concordia’s most valuable but often overlooked research tools, services, and strategies. Participants will learn how to navigate the library website to pinpoint essential graduate resources, take advantage of services and perks reserved for grad students, and know when to consult subject specialists for deeper support. The session also covers using specialized databases, optimizing on- and off-campus access, and efficiently obtaining material from within and beyond Concordia. Through guided instruction and participant questions, attendees will come away with a clear understanding of the breadth of resources available for graduate-level research, how to access materials outside Concordia, and how to fully leverage library privileges wherever they are working.
