Four John Molson School of Business (JMSB) undergraduate accounting students were awarded $5,000 scholarships funded by the Canadian accounting firm Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton (RCGT).
RCGT scholarship recipients are chosen through a competition, based on academic merit. The scholarships, which will handed out annually for the next five years, are part of a partnership agreement between RCGT and JMSB that also includes the establishment of the Person of the Year Awards that celebrate innovative Quebec business leaders who dare to do things differently.

Tzotzis says that studying accountancy has provided him with a solid foundation in various business functions and enabled him to develop several transferable skills. He loves studying at JMSB and enjoys the university community and competitive academic environment.
After he graduates, Tzotzis aims to pursue his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in taxation and hopes to work for a public accounting firm or the Government of Canada.
Wong decided to study business in order to develop a wide range of valuable transferable skills. She is currently majoring in accounting and the main reason she chose to study at JMSB was the Accountancy Co-op program.
“This allowed me to gain relevant work experience while completing my degree,” Wong says. “Upon graduation, I plan to obtain the CPA designation and work at an accounting firm.”
Cardillo chose to study at JMSB because of its reputation as a world-renowned business school. Though initially unsure about where she wanted to focus her studies, she fell in love with accounting immediately.
In January 2020 she will begin her career at EY while also studying toward her CPA designation. Cardillo is excited to work for a Big Four firm and is looking forward to discovering what the future has in store for her.
Zhou worked as a lawyer in Shanghai for 10 years before immigrating to Canada in 2013.
“Concordia offered me a great opportunity to study accountancy at JMSB,” she says. “It’s one of the best business schools in the country. This will allow me to pursue a profession that combines law and accountancy in the future.”
The RCGT scholarship recipients will be honoured at the Person of the Year Awards gala at Windsor Station in Montreal on May 9.
