About the department

Established in 1958, Concordia’s Department of Religions and Cultures is one of the oldest Religious Studies departments in Canada.

Located in downtown Montreal, we continue to be a leader in women, gender, and feminist studies in Religion, Southern Asia as well as in Canadian Jewish Studies 

Diverse and accomplished faculty

Our faculty explore religions and cultures, past and present, across a range of geographic locales and from varying methodological and theoretical approaches.

Flexible programs and coursework

We offer both graduate and undergraduate degree programs, and our students are actively involved in the academic life of the Department.
