About the department

Established in 1958, Concordia’s Department of Religions and Cultures is one of the oldest and largest religion departments in Canada. Today, our diverse faculty members explore religious traditions and their cultural contexts worldwide, covering areas including China, India, Iran, ancient Rome, Israel, Europe, and North America.

Located in downtown Montreal, our department hosts events featuring world-class guest speakers and nurtures collaborative links with other institutions in the city. Our undergraduate and graduate programs foster exciting intellectual experiences and launch students into meaningful careers.
