Student housing has a new home
|
The new name reflects an 'outside-in' approach – organizing information based on the perspectives of users rather than internal stakeholders.
|
To raise its visibility, Summer accommodation has been moved under Student housing, and is now part of that section's navigation.
Off-campus housing has also moved under Student housing. You can find the link near the bottom of the Student housing landing page.
All name and link dependencies throughout the university website have been updated by UCS to reflect these changes.
|
Legacy URLs point to servers and subdomains that were abandoned when the university website was migrated to the AEM web content management system. Yet we still see them pop up in web requests and email signatures.
For example:
• archives.concordia.ca instead of concordia.ca/offices/archives.html
• english.concordia.ca instead of concordia.ca/artsci/english.html
Although some legacy URLs still work, they won't work forever, and the redirect process slows down users' browsing experience.
Instead of posting or sending legacy URLs, please instead use the URLs to which they redirect!

AEM servers: Know your environment
|
The training environment, also known as the sandbox, is a great place to experiment with editing pages and components without affecting live web content. It contains "snbx" in the URL, and has a dark, blank background on its login screen.
The production environment hosts the live web content, and it's here that changes to the website are made. It contains "prod" in the URL, and has a bright orange login screen.
|
Remember to use the production environment – not the training environment – when you want to edit pages on the live website!
Visit us on Cspace for links to both AEM environments.
|
The next basic training session is on Wednesday, March 22. If you have staff who need training, send them to Cspace.
Users can choose from self-directed, semi self-directed or in-person basic training, according to their needs and schedule.
Check out the schedule for available courses, then click on "Sign me up!" to register. When you do, you'll see that there are Open Sessions: these are training events where the topic is decided by the first person to register!
Still have questions? Shoot an email to webtraining@concordia.ca and we can help.
