As a student ambassador at the Advancement Engagement Centre, I get to speak with alumni and friends of the university every day. I love hearing from those who came before me, and am grateful for their help in supporting those who will follow. 

This Giving Tuesday, happening on December 2, we’re shining a light on a fund that’s close to my heart: the Student Emergency and Food Fund. It helps students facing food insecurity and sudden financial hardship — challenges that are more common than many realize.

As a student in the Professional Writing program at the Faculty of Arts and Science, I’ve seen how much some of my peers struggle. I know that the Student Emergency and Food Fund makes a difference. Whether it’s helping someone buy groceries, pay rent or stay in school during a crisis, your support goes to students who need it most.

Proceeds help student-facing offices across campus distribute emergency aid when appropriate and as needed.

I’m so grateful for the opportunities Concordia offers, and am proud to do what I can to support other students make the most of those same opportunities, without worrying about when they’ll next get to eat.
