Now that the SHIFT Centre is open, how can you use the space?

Find out how to access the space and use the facilities.

Open space in the SHIFT Centre

1. Coworking Days

On Coworking Days, SHIFT's coworking and open space are open to anyone working on social change and community engaged projects. Members of the SHIFT and OCE communities, Concordians, and the broader public are welcome to drop in and use the space.

  • Tuesdays: noon to 6 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • 14 hot desks available
  • No reservation, first-come, first-served basis

2. Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

SHIFT and OCE partners and community members can use the open space area or reserve rooms during our regular opening hours. Based on capacity, the room may be used for collaborative work sessions, to host in-person or hybrid meetings or to host small workshops.

3. Hosting an event at SHIFT

Are you planning an event to help tackle systems of injustice, inequity, or unsustainability at Concordia or beyond? You could host it at SHIFT!

Members and partners of the SHIFT and OCE communities, Concordians (students, faculty and staff) and the broader public may submit a proposal to host an event at the SHIFT Centre.

Proposals must be submitted a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. Please note that booking priority is given to members and partners of the SHIFT and OCE communities.

Report launch: Transforming Montreal in time of crisis

Thursday, December 8, 5 - 7 p.m.

  • How has the COVID-19 crisis transformed Montreal?
  • How did community organizers and activists across the city respond to the crisis in ways that pushed for increased justice, equity and sustainability in how the city functions?

These are some of the questions at the heart of a two-year research project led by Dr. Jen Gobby, Concordia Geography Department affiliate professor, in partnership with SHIFT and community organizers across Montreal.

The event will include a presentation by Jen Gobby about the findings of the research as well as a panel discussion featuring community organizers who were involved in the project.
