Parental-Leave Supplement Award

Overview

The Parental-Leave Supplement Award will provide financial support to international graduate students who become parents and allow them some breathing-room without the added stress of thinking they may not have the financial means to interrupt or complete their studies.

APPLY FOR THE PARENTAL-LEAVE SUPPLEMENT AWARD

Eligibility

Current graduate students in all disciplines at both master and doctoral levels are welcome to apply.

To be eligible, you must:

be an international graduate student;
be granted an approved parental leave of absence;
have completed at least one term of full-time studies in their current program.
be a recipient of an internal award (donor award, department/faculty specific award, graduate award from University funds, and research bursary).

Selection

In the event of the birth or adoption of a child, and once the parental leave is approved by the School of Graduate Studies through a service request, the School of Graduate Studies will determine the value of the award, based upon an application from the student, and then disburse the Parental Leave Supplement Award to the student’s account. The supplement is awarded on a first come, first served basis.
