  • M - 15:00-17:30
  • EV-1.615
  • INSTRUCTOR: RENEE BOUCHARD

The aim of this course is to provide the student with a knowledge of Greek art and architecture from its early beginnings, the Bronze Age, (ca.3000-1100 B.C.), to the Hellenistic period (323-31 B.C.) ending at the Roman conquest. The course will proceed chronologically. To punctuate the evolution, or in some cases devolution, of Greek art and architecture, a discussion on the historical background pertaining to specific eras will open each lecture. This will help towards the understanding of each artistic style within its historical, social and economic context. Within the scope of each class; pottery, sculpture and architecture will be analyzed.
