Active learning

Active learning is an approach to classroom teaching and learning that focusses on planning and guiding students through various activities that require learning by doing.

Summary

When using active learning, instructors engage students through interactions with course content material as well as other students using a variety of pedagogical techniques including guided group discussion, collaborative problem-solving, hands-on experimentation, and simulations for example.  Active learning uses an eclectic approach and is better suited to serving a more diverse student population.
