What is the IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS), is the most widely accepted language test in the world for academic, immigration or professional purposes. The academic and general tests measure the four key language skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing.

It is the test taker’s responsibility to choose whether they wish to take the Academic or General training module. Please determine which module suits your goals before applying for the IELTS test. Concordia University is not responsible for any errors related to the selection of the wrong test.
Academic Module – for study purposes
The Academic module assesses a test taker’s readiness to study or train in the medium of English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level by testing the full range of formal language skills required for academic purposes. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs and courses is based on the results of the Academic module. The Academic module is also suitable for professional purposes to provide a level of English proficiency to future employers.
General Training – for work or immigration purposes
The General module is for test takers who are going to English speaking countries to complete their secondary education, undertake work experience, training programs, or to qualify for immigration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States.
Preparation for the IELTS test
You need an IELTS test score for academic or immigration purposes? Pass the first time : take the preparation course and register to the IELTS test at Concordia University.
IELTS test dates at CCE
- 08:00 - Doors open
- 08:00 to 09:00 - Candidates arrive and check-in/register
- 09:00 - Doors close (Late arrivals will not be admitted)
- 09:15 to 12:30 - Test duration for listening, writing and reading skills
Speaking skills will be tested on the Friday prior to your written test.
Exact date and time will be confirmed by email four days before your speaking test.
