Best wishes to Dr. Hamel

It is with great mixed feelings we report that Dr. Carine Hamel will be leaving Health Services at the end of May.

Dr. Hamel started working at Health Services in November 2017 and since then, has given the department 200%. Always open, always available, always delivering quality care. A very big loss indeed, however, we wish her all the best on her next endeavour where she will be pursuing a Fellowship at Dalhousie University.

Accessibility across Concordia

Following the updated Health and Wellness Hub, our new Accessibility landing page is live!

By bringing a range of services and resources together, this landing page highlights the university-wide commitment to accessibility and all the players involved. The accessibility landing page will be maintained as a central hub with a wholistic and collaborative lens on access and inclusion.

Access the landing page

Stay tuned, as Charles Altman is working with the Library to update the latest assistive technology available to all students, including those with disabilities. This project is a step in the right direction for the implementation of Universal Design for Learning on campus!

Sustainable menstrual product distribution

Distribution is underway for the Menstrual Equity Project, a collaboration between Health Services, the Zen Dens and the CSU. Through this project, students can request a menstrual cup or two reusable pads, for free!

Peer Wellness Ambassadors

We would like to thank this year's cohort of Peer Wellness Ambassadors for their initiative, kindness and enthusiasm in their role. This team of students has provided wellness outreach, active listening and hosted programming throughout the year.

Two Wellness Ambassadors will be working this summer to assist with programming and projects, and we're looking forward to welcoming our new team for the fall, including some familiar faces.

Spring programming

  • Mondays: The "Art" of Self-care, in collaboration with the Department of Creative Arts Therapies, will continue through the spring, now in person at the MB Zen Den.
Participant feedback from the program: "It was an amazing experience to get to meet new people, use art to work through current challenges, explore the meaning behind each art work and weekly topics."
  • May 12: Managing anxiety with Dr. Jessica Tutino will provide tools to identify and cope with anxiety, presented with the Zen Dens, FutureBound, and GradProSkills.
  • May 18: Imposter Syndrome: When will my cover be blown? with Camila Velez is open to graduate students through GradProSkills, and will help students struggling with imposter syndrome learn strategies for a more fulfilling university experience.
  • May 31: Eating well with little time or money with Gaby Szabo will also return, with GradProSkills and FutureBound. This workshop offers realistic and practical skills and resources for healthful eating.
