Begin again: New term reflection

January brings a sense of new beginnings and the urge to make bold resolutions... with the confidence of someone who has conveniently forgotten how quickly things get busy. But behaviour change isn’t about creating a “new you.” It’s about supporting the current you: the one who forgets alarms, procrastinates, or falls into a doom scroll more often than planned.

Real, sustainable change doesn’t happen because we magically wake up motivated. It comes from small steps repeated often, paired with plenty of self-compassion for the inevitable stumbles along the way. So, this year, instead of pressure-filled resolutions, consider setting intentions rooted in curiosity and kindness.

As we step into 2026, let the mantra be: progress, not perfection. And if your resolutions didn’t survive the first weeks of January? That simply means you’re human and you can always begin again.
