Hamidou Horticulture Academy

Activating the SHIFT ecosystem!

We are happy to announce an expanded collaboration between Hamidou Horticulture, one of our funded projects, and Concordia University.

Starting this spring, the Hamidou Horticulture Academy will offer a training program on cultivating plants and vegetables native to sub-Saharan Africa in Quebec. Participants will learn how to grow a variety of ethnic, heirloom, and less common varieties of produce, and will acquire the essential skills to turn their knowledge into small businesses.

The program will be hosted between Concordia’s downtown greenhouse and the Loyola campus gardens and will run from April to November 2022. Successful participants will receive a certificate from Concordia Continuing Education.

SHIFT is excited to be supporting this important work to diversify Quebec's agricultural sector!
