Sites of Violence and their Communities: Critical Heritage and Memory Studies in Contemporary Post-Holocaust Poland
This site-based, 3-credit interdisciplinary field school will introduce students firsthand to the “social lives” of key sites of Holocaust history and memory in the city of Kraków, Poland (and other selected sites). The goal of this field school is to transform the way you think about how societies remember.
Concordia in China
Concordia International in collaboration with the Department of Classics, Modern Languages and Linguistics (CMLL) are pleased to offer the Concordia in China Program for Summer 2020. This exciting program provides students from Concordia and other universities the opportunity to participate in an educational and cultural immersion in Beijing while earning 9 credits.
Concordia in Spain
Concordia International in collaboration with the Department of Classics, Modern Languages and Linguistics (CMLL) are pleased to offer a Concordia in Spain Spanish Language and Culture Program for Summer 2020. This exciting program provides Concordia students the opportunity to participate in an educational and cultural immersion at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) while earning 9 Concordia credits in Spanish language and culture courses.
Azrieli Institute’s Summer in Jerusalem (TBD)
The Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies is pleased to offer the Azrieli Institute Summer in Jerusalem program in collaboration with Concordia International. This exciting program provides you with the opportunity to earn credit while attending Hebrew University’s Rothberg International School with students from around the world.
Art, Science and Technology in Colombia
Work on a research-creation project that combines art, media, and tech while you attend the renowned international Image Festival in Manizales, Colombia. Located in a mountainous coffee-growing region, Manizales will introduce you to the cultures, stories, architecture, intensity, speed, and beauty of Columbia.
The Image Festival (Festival Internacional de la Imagen) is an international conference on art, science and technology showcasing the work of 2,000+ artists.
The Artist Intervenor: Decolonizing the Collection
The Faculty of Fine Arts and Concordia International are pleased to offer a new short-term summer program in London in cooperation with University of Arts London and its Decolonising Art Institute in London, England. Over 10 day period, you will engage in a hands-on curatorial practicum focused on creative strategies for institutional decolonization. You will engage in interdisciplinary group discussions and develop an individualized project in the area of visual arts, curatorial practices, and/or museum studies.
Detroit: Re-Think, Re-Align, Re-Make - The Future Of The City
The Faculty of Fine Arts and Concordia International are pleased to offer a 4-week summer program focused on the city of Detroit, Michigan. This hands-on program provides students with the opportunity to earn 3 Concordia credits while spending approximately 2 weeks in Detroit. Dr. Carmela Cucuzzella, Associate Professor, Design and Computation Arts and the Concordia University Research Chair in Integrated Design, Ecology, and Sustainability (IDEAS) for the Built Environment will accompany the group.
ISEA 2020 Electronic Arts Symposium in Montreal
Your classroom will be one of the leading conferences on electronic arts in the world - the International Symposium of Electronic Arts (ISEA2020). You will develop a research-creation project connected to the symposium and maintain a journal throughout the course, recording your reflections on in-class discussions and the ISEA2020 activities. This field school will help you hone your vision as both a maker and an audience-member.
Make in Japan 2020: Short-term Design Field School
The Faculty of Fine Arts and Concordia International are pleased to offer a new short-term Design field school program in Japan. This exciting program offers students the opportunity to earn 3 Concordia credits while spending approximately 17 days in Japan.
Imagining Iceland: Summer Short-Program at the Icelandic Textile Centre
The Faculty of Fine Arts and Concordia International are pleased to offer a new short-term summer program at the Icelandic Textile Centre for 2020. This exciting program provides students with the opportunity to earn 3 Concordia credits while spending approximately 4 weeks in Iceland. Students develop individualized and interdisciplinary artistic projects in a variety of media or academic work.
Rwanda Field School in Engineering and Sustainable Development (TBD)
The Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, the Centre for Engineering in Society, and Concordia International are pleased to offer the intensive course ENCS 485 – Field School in Engineering and Sustainable Development. The 2020 edition of this new course will focus on Rwanda.
