Athletic therapy internships
The School's athletic therapy internships offer students from Concordia's Department of Health, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology a unique opportunity to be guided by certified instructors in the development of treatment options for clients suffering from musculoskeletal issues.
Students from any recognized accredited program are also welcome to apply.
Experiential learning and the community
Athletic therapy interns follow their client's entire course of treatment — from assessment to treatment to discharge.
Student interns are charged with gathering information on their client's medical history and performing a physical assessment in order to determine a treatment plan. Interns then present the plan to their supervisor — a certified athletic therapist — who ensures that all appropriate tests and enquiries have been made before adopting a proper treatment plan. Treatments may include ultrasound, heat, manual therapy, aquatherapy, exercise or whichever methods have been decided upon.
