Re-use centres

  • Écoscéno
    Écoscéno's mission is to reduce the negative environmental impact of cultural production.
  • CUCCR
    Concordia University’s Center for Creative Reuse is dedicated to diverting materials from inside Concordia’s waste-stream and offering them to the general community free of cost. Membership is offered for those interested in using the used material depot, shed and tool library.

Tool and equipment rentals

  • Espace Costume
    Espace Costume is one of the largest costume designers in North America. Located in the heart of Montreal, they offer a costume rental service for film, television and theater productions.
  • La Remise
    La Remise is a non-profit solidarity cooperative that stores common use tools made available for loans. They also offer workspaces, and wood, sewing and bike workshops.
  • Le Grand Costumier
    Le Grand Costumier has a collection of more than 100,000 pieces available to media productions and the performing arts.

Rehearsal spaces

  • Conseil des arts de Montréal Studio rentals
    Available rental spaces for those in music, dance and multidisciplinary practices. This service is only available for members.
  • La Cenne
    Rent spaces for rehearsals, hosting events, performances and classes.
  • LA SERRE – arts vivants
    Small and large studio to rent every week in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
  • MAI
    The Montréal, arts interculturels offers its gallery, theater, café and two rehearsal spaces at affordable prices.
  • Theatre Aux Ecuries
    A theatre that offers a performance space, three studios for rehearsals, readings or meetings, sets, conduct lighting tests, broadcasting purposes, residencies, etc.
  • Youtheatre
    Youtheatre is located in the mile-end and is happy to serve its community by making its rehearsal hall available to local artists. Lighting and other types of equipment are also available for rental. 
  • Geordie’s Play Lab
    Located in St-Henri, Geordie’s Play Lab can be rented as a rehearsal space or a place from which you can broadcast your performance.

    This is a casting sheet and auditions template for content producers. It stores everything related to the casting process in one place so you can spend less time doing paperwork and more time focused on finding the best actors for the job.

    A guide on stage lighting, including the lighting design process, choosing lighting equipment, setting up the stage and running the show.

  • The Machinery: Pense-bête pour la faisabilité d'un décor
    L'outil Pense-bête est un aide-mémoire des points à considérer et à vérifier dans la réflexion sur la conception du décor. Il vous permet d'anticiper les besoins et de juger des impacts des choix, par exemple au niveau technique, sécurité, visibilité du public, etc.

  • Local ADC659 Contract & Agreement Templates
    Local ADC659 negotiates and maintains a variety of collective agreements and contract templates to facilitate the relationship between designers and producers in theatre, opera, dance, and emerging hybrid art forms.

Preparing your Budget

  • The Machinery: Cost Estimator for Touring a Show
    This tool allows you to estimate the real costs of a tour, as well as to estimate the set cost of a work. It can help you determine the minimum fee that should be charged to the presenter(s) to cover the costs of each performance.
