Call for mentees

Program overview

The Art Volt Mentorship Program is now accepting submissions!

Students in their last semester at Concordia, or alumni having graduated within the last 5 years, are invited to apply to the Art Volt Mentorship program. Applicants are welcome to apply as a collective, as long as all members of the group are recent alumni of Concordia University.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to develop their professional network and gain valuable insight from an established practitioner within their field.

If you have any questions about the application process or need specific accommodations to help you succeed in applying, please get in touch at artvolt@concordia.ca.

How it works

Applicants are invited to look at the list of participating mentors and identify who they are most interested in working with. Each selected candidate will be paired one-on-one with a mentor. Over the course of the program, mentees will benefit from about 20 hours of mentorship taking place online and/or in person.

All selected mentees will be required to attend an orientation session at the beginning of the program where they will be introduced to their mentor. This session will also be an opportunity to learn about “best practices” in mentorship relationships, as well as other programs available through the Art Volt platform.

Mentees and mentors will be invited to attend networking events and group outings to visit cultural organizations in the city. This will allow mentees to discover new resources and spaces in Montreal and meet with the professionals working in these organizations. These events will also be an opportunity for mentees to spend time together as a group, allowing selected candidates to further expand their network of peers.

The Art Volt Mentorship program will conclude in spring 2025 with a mandatory survey in which mentors and mentee will be encouraged to share their feedback and experiences with the Art Volt team.

Over the course of the program, selected mentees will benefit from the support of the Art Volt team, who will be available to meet and answer questions as needed. Art Volt will also perform regular follow-ups with both mentors and mentees separately to ensure that all parties have the best experience possible.

Application criteria

Applicants must be registered for graduation, or have graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, within the last five years. Applicants are welcome to apply as a collective, as long as all members of the group are recent alumni of Concordia University.

Mentees will be selected by the mentors themselves. With this in mind, we encourage applicants to highlight the impact of mentorship on their personal and professional development, and to focus on clarity of intent. We aim to notify applicants within 6 weeks following the submission deadline.

The deadline to submit your application is Monday, May 6th 2024 at 5 PM.

If you have any questions about the application process or need specific accommodations to help you succeed in applying, please get in touch at artvolt@concordia.ca.
