The newsletter that promotes sharing!

Metadata is your (Facebook) friend
|
Don't forget to add 'metadata' to your pages and events! These fields are vital for Google searches as well as social media posts.
|
Just pay attention to three key fields under 'Page properties' in AEM:
Title
In addition to setting the page title for web browsers, this field also becomes the post title when the page is shared on social media.
Description
Enter a one-sentence description of the page! This often overlooked field adds important information to search results and shared posts. Keep it short and sweet!
Image
This gets its own tab under 'Page properties.' Uploading an image here won't make it show up on your page, but it WILL show up when your page is shared on social media! Optimal dimensions are 1200 x 630 pixels.

AEM web conference this spring!
|
The UCS web team is planning a half-day training & development session for AEM users this spring. Be on the lookout for details in the coming months.
In the meantime, we want your input!
What topics would you like us to cover? Some ideas:
• Managing news and events in AEM
• Optimizing pages for social media
• Web communications – the salient points from our Writing for the Web workshop
Send your web woes and topic suggestions to webtraining@concordia.ca!

A picture is worth a thousand words, but it shouldn't be thousands of kilobytes!
Uploading large images without resizing them slows down the website.
Resizing is easy
If you don't have Photoshop access, we recommend using Pixlr, a free and brilliant online tool.
1. Visit https://pixlr.com/editor/ and open your image
2. Under the 'Image' menu, select 'Image size...'
3. Set width to 940 pixels or less
4. Save the image to your computer
Visit Cspace web services for more information on uploading assets to the DAM!
|
The next basic training session is on Wednesday, February 22. If you have staff who need training, send them to Cspace.
Users can choose from self-directed, semi self-directed or in-person basic training, according to their needs and schedule.
Check out the schedule for available courses, then click on "Sign me up!" to register. When you do, you'll see that there are Open Sessions: these are training events where the topic is decided by the first person to register!
Still have questions? Shoot an email to webtraining@concordia.ca and we can help.
