John Molson School of Business finance student Pascal Dion and his Canadian teammates Charles Hamelin, Steven Dubois, Jordan Pierre-Gilles and Maxime Laoun won an Olympic gold medal in the men’s 5,000 metre short-track speed skating relay in Beijing, China, on February 16! We are working on holding a celebratory event for him in person shortly – stayed tuned for the details!

Renewals

I am proud to announce that Jooseop Lim and Alex Panaccio have been renewed to serve in their roles of Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs, and Associate Dean, Accreditation and Faculty Relations, respectively. Both have led the school through important changes and advancements, thanks to their efforts and vision. I look forward to continue advancing on our strategic goals with them both.

Our gold-winning streak continues: the outstanding John Molson Undergraduate Competition Program and the MBA Case Competition Program will continue to be helmed by Nora Baronian and Tim Fields, respectively, as both have also been renewed in their roles as directors. The students’ continuously shine in every single competition, and this is due greatly to Nora and Tim’s commitment and leadership. Best of luck for the remainder of the competition season!

Michel Deslauriers, the inaugural director of the Jonathan Wener Centre for Real Estate, embarks on a renewed mandate as well – congratulations Michel! Thank you for your expertise and dedication to the centre and its activities.

Rankings updates

Continuing with more great news, the Executive MBA program moved up six places from last year in CEO Magazine’s newly released 2022 Global MBA Rankings. The EMBA program now sits at 27th out of 84 EMBA programs reviewed internationally. It also ranks second in Canada and is the only Quebec university featured. Congratulations to everyone for this stellar achievement!

Additionally, Research.com, a leading academic platform for researchers, recently released its 2022 edition of its Ranking of Top 1000 Scientists in the field of Business and Management. The Canadian list of most cited researchers in Canada includes Michel Laroche (12th in Canada, 214th internationally), Suresh Goyal (13th in Canada, 216th internationally), Steven Appelbaum (38th in Canada, 760th internationally), Michel Magnan (42nd in Canada, 810th internationally) and the late Gregory Kersten (66th in Canada, 1306th internationally). John Molson continues to be at the forefront of knowledge creation, and it’s a proud moment to see our faculty members recognized for their work. Félicitations!

On April 4th and 5th, we will virtually welcome the AACSB’s Peer Review Team. This is the last step in our re-accreditation process. I want to thank everyone who will be taking the time to meet with the team. The report we submitted is one we can all be proud of.

Thank you,
