Dear colleagues,
It has been a few weeks since we welcomed our students, staff and faculty back on campus. Every time I ask students how they feel about being back on campus, I get the same answer: they are so happy to be back or to be discovering our campus for the first time.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Ingrid Chadwick who has fulfilled her mandate as Director of the National Bank Initiative in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. On behalf of the organizing committee of the 2022 MBA International Case Competition (ICC), I would like to share their call for submissions for their annual case writing competition. They invite you to submit your original business cases for this year’s e-ICC, the virtual edition of the John Molson MBA International Case Competition.
The 2022 e-ICC cases should focus on business and/or corporate strategy and decision-making. Case writers are encouraged to submit cases that deal with any business discipline, including strategy, finance, sustainability, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, etc. It should be noted that writers need to base their cases on issues other than COVID-19. Considerations around COVID-19 and its impact will inevitably factor into many cases, but COVID-19 should not drive the case.
For information and to submit a case for consideration by October 1st, please visit the competition’s website.

A long-time faculty member at John Molson from 1987 to 2006, Jean was an outstanding researcher and published numerous articles in top management journals. The last position she held at John Molson was that of Associate Dean, Research.

Bakr Ibrahim, also a long-time colleague in Management, passed away in June 2021. A small private ceremony was held early this summer. Bakr held many roles during his tenure at John Molson, both administrative and academic, but is fondly remember for his tenure as Chair of the Department of Management, and Associate Dean, Administrative Affairs. A graduate of Concordia, he joined the Management Department in the early 1980s, and was a kind and welcoming colleague and friend to all who knew him.
