December 2021 |
|
Dear colleagues, This is the last newsletter of 2021. Before we leave for a well-deserved holiday break, I would like to highlight the most recent accomplishments by members of our community. |
|
Dean’s Awards I want to thank everyone who attended, either in person or virtually, the Dean’s Awards last week. It was a joy to see so many happy faces again! I want to take a moment to congratulate again this year’s award winners: |

A recording of the event can be viewed here. I wish to thank the selection committee members, Alexandra Panaccio, Thomas Walker and Javier Lee, for their work on what was no doubt a difficult task. This event was a success, thanks to the coordination efforts of Kelly Hall and Guy Barbeau. |

Retirements and hires As some of you may already know, Tina Kournikakis recently began her well-deserved retirement! Tina held various positions across John Molson, most recently as our facilities administrator. We wish her much joy in this new chapter! We welcome Valentina Mennella as John Molson’s new facilities administrator. This past November, Paola Yannine Perez joined our community as Advisor, Student Exchange and Advising, Undergraduate Programs, and Monica Oviedo joined as our new Advisor, Student Academic Services, also with the Undergraduate Programs office. Welcome to our new team members! |

Return to campus – January Our return to campus plan remains as initially discussed. Course delivery remains as planned. Our staff members will be on campus with a minimum of 3 days a week at the start of January. Each unit or department has chosen one day per week where all members of their respective teams will be on campus together, either a Tuesday or Wednesday. As always, we will adapt should government directives change. |

Happy Appreciation Week! Last week, you received an email with the details about the Certificates of Appreciation, and how to send them out. We invite you to take part in this activity this week. For myself, I wish to thank everyone, faculty and staff, for your tireless hard work and your commitment to our students and to each other. Together, #WeAreJMSB. I wish everyone a restful, peaceful, and healthy holiday season! Be well, stay safe, and looking forward to seeing you in the new year. Anne-Marie Croteau, PhD, CDir |
