ACSD staff poses in Concordia's EV-atrium with outreach materials
The ACSD marked la Semaine québécoise des personnes handicapées with an outreach event in the EV-atrium

Dear CWSS team,

I’m happy to announce that I have begun the role as director of Campus Wellness and Support Services as of Monday July 18th. I will also continue to act as the manager of the ACSD until a replacement is found.

I am delighted and grateful for the opportunity to work with such an exceptional team of professionals. I’m looking forward to working with all of you in a new capacity, and in some cases getting to know you and your roles better.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or if you’d like to connect. Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the summer,

New staff welcome

  • Health Promotion Specialist Sandra Clermont-Pierre has joined the Health Services team and is now available for healthy living appointments and consultations.
  • Two new nurses will begin at Health Services in August, Mathilde Blanchette (August 1) and Kim Crosbie (August 29).

Summer projects

Learn about some of the summer projects taking place across wellness units in preparation for the fall term.

  • Updating the health information on our website, including our vaccination information page, concordia.ca/vaccines.
  • Scheduling fall wellness programming through the Zen Dens, including workshops, movement and creativity activities, and therapy dog visits.
  • Enhancing Peer Wellness Ambassador training to offer more hands-on activities and connections with different Concordia units and referral services, with updates based on student feedback.
  • Developing a resource toolbox for advisors to help deliver accessibility services to students and faculty. The toolbox will include a comprehensive list of adaptive technologies, handouts and resources to support communication between students, faculty and advisors.
  • Expanding our selection of assistive software available during accommodated exams. The ACSD is evaluating software both for accommodation effectiveness and adherence to the principles of academic integrity. New software will be available on accommodated exams computers in fall 2022.
  • Developing accessibility outreach initiatives for faculties. Through presentations and workshops, we aim to facilitate dialogue about the ways that faculties can support students with diverse needs.
  • Expanding note-taking services for students, including revising our eligibility criteria for professional note-taking, collaborating with the Student Success Centre to develop a note-taking working group, and leveraging technology and exploring note-taking apps to reach students.
  • Updating the ACSD intake questionnaire to be more student-focused, reflecting the diversity of student needs and barriers faced. This new process will provide important information at-a-glance to review accommodation plans and recommend support.
