Season Recap |
It was with renewed excitement that we were able to take the field again this past fall after missing out on the 2021 fall season. View our team roster and photos > Our group was a resilient group this year after a difficult loss in our first game 1-0 to the #1 U Sports team in the country, the Montréal Carabins, we were able to find our way towards the end the year winning our last two games of the year. Watch some game highlights of the season.

Academic Success |
As important to our on-field success, our off the field success has continued to show its strength as well in the classroom. With nine of our student-athletes earning a GPA of 3.70 they’ve received the honor of being named Academic All Canadians. Here is the list of our 2021-2022 Academic All Canadian honorees:
With a young group composed of twenty-two first- and second-year players we are excited about the future of our team. |
Forward-looking |
We have resumed our winter season and have a slate of great exhibition games lined up, including games against PLSQ semi-pro teams. This will help us continue our growth as a team going into next fall. Fall 2022 recruitsWe are having a great recruiting class going into Fall ’22. With more to come, some of the additions we have added so far are below. Devon and Rachel Vermaire I am excited about the addition of Devon and Rachel to our team. These twins are extremely athletic and talented players that can play multiple positions giving us great versatility going forward. They have a great track record of success which we know will carry forward into their university careers. Devon and Rachel developed their skills in the nation’s capital. They have enjoyed great success with Ottawa TFC in the U17 Ontario Player Development League (OPDL). Devon, a midfielder, and Rachel, a fullback, were also part of an Ottawa TFC team that represented Ontario and won a U17 national championship in October of 2019. They won Canada Soccer’s Toyota nationals with a 2-1 victory over Quebec (Lakeshore). Osa Iyare The Montrealer who was a star player with the Lakeshore Soccer Club in her youth earned a NCAA scholarship and joined the University of Memphis Tigers in 2017. After one season she transferred to the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, and played two seasons with the Mocs, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Media Studies in 2021. We are very excited to add a quality player like Osa to our program. She is mature and will add experience to our lineup. She has two years of eligibility left to play with us. Since returning home, Osa has been playing club soccer with CS St-Hubert in the Première Ligue de soccer du Québec. The next stop on her journey is Concordia. Laurie Piché We are excited to add Laurie to our squad. She is a strong defender with great ability to play out of the back and, having captained her Dawson college team, shines as a leader. Laurie has been with the Dawson Blues since 2019. She was a RSEQ all-star in her rookie season and was the team captain her final two years. In 2021, Dawson posted a perfect 7-0 win-loss record in the regular season. She plays with CS St-Hubert in the Première Ligue de soccer du Québec. |
Alumni, family and friends engagement |
With what we hope is a return to more normalcy in our world these days we are hopeful that we will also be able to engage in person with our alumni, family, and friends of our Soccer Stinger family. We are in the process of planning some initiatives to reconnect in person with all of you and will announce these events in our next newsletter. In the meantime, I would love to hear from you. Please do write to me at concordiasoccer@concordia.ca with your suggestions or comments of what you would like to see. I also want to thank the many of you who have donated to our program over the last year. Every dollar helps in improving our program and allowing us to support our players and give them an experience they can take with them when they graduate. We had a record number of donations on Giving Tuesday 2021 and we are hope to break that record again in 2022. We will be updating everyone with another newsletter again this summer when we will share more announcements and our schedule for the 2022 fall season. Until then, stay safe and see you all soon. Best, Greg Sutton |
