After years of planning and many months of renovations, we are happy to share that SHIFT’s permanent space will soon be ready to welcome staff and community members.

Part of the mission of the SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation is to foster an ecosystem in which diverse individuals and actors come together to grow ideas and implement actions to transform Montreal.

While we continue our efforts to activate our community, mostly virtually, we are looking forward to finally having a physical space to nurture meaningful collaborations!

About SHIFT's new location

SHIFT's permanent space will be located on the first floor of the J.W. McConnell Building, proximate to Concordia’s 4th Space and the R. Howard Webster Library. 

Located at the heart of Concordia, this prime location will allow SHIFT to easily welcome and serve the community.

Community

A human-scale environment that will help bridge the gap between the academic and community sectors, creating space to facilitate knowledge exchange and advance community-based approaches.

Flexibility

Designed for flexibility, with a variety of rooms that can be repurposed for an array of activities, from large community events to pitch sessions and sharing circles.

Visibility

Located on street-level, the space will be highly visible, making it a place where Montrealers and Concordians can easily drop-in.

What would be some of the best ways for SHIFT to make use of the space to connect with and serve the community while advancing social transformation?

With SHIFT's permanent space opening in the coming months, we are ready to welcome a new team member. This person will lead and oversee the animation and activities of the space.

The successful candidate will create structures and processes to enable the space to become a vibrant and welcoming place with a strong sense of co-ownership from diverse community members. 

Does this sound like you or someone you know ?

• Outgoing, friendly and welcoming personality, comfortable proactively engaging with a diversity of new people on a regular basis
• Knowledge of and strong interest in social change and community-led initiatives in the domains of justice, equity and sustainability
• Experience curating and organizing small-scale events (5 – 30 people) on themes related to social transformation
