Hi everyone! I am a 2nd year MSc student in the Geography department, with research focusing on landscape ecology in Canada’s national parks. I’m an international student – I’m from the UK and have been living in Montreal for a year and a half. When I am not working as a Welcome Crew Mentor for first-year students, I’m out hiking, rock climbing and ice skating in the winter, or I’m at home trying to make sure my house plants stay alive and my cat doesn’t eat them!
The one thing I wished I would have known back in my first semester is… how good it is to join student groups and branch out beyond your own program and department. There are so many student groups at Concordia to join no matter what your interests!
A tip I have for new students is… to have a break from studying to do something fun, even if it’s on Zoom for the moment.
My favourite part of being a Concordia student is… the friendly atmosphere on campus, and now online, too. There is always a smiling face a Zoom call or email away!
