Why StartupReady?

StartupReady is an entrepreneurial certificate that will initiate you into the world of entrepreneurship and innovation. Designed for students from all faculties and programs,this experience will help you develop your understanding of what it takes to be innovative and entrepreneurial while enhancing your employability skills for the startup world and beyond. It doesn't get much better than that.

How we do it

An entrepreneurial mindset is fueled by curiosity, geared towards problem-solving, and driven by a desire to bring about change in the world. And so through this hands-on certificate you will:

  • Build your entrepreneurial mindset and skills in the areas of agile management, presentation & storytelling, customer discovery, prototyping and design thinking
  • Expand your network with like-minded peers and industry leaders through collaborating with students across disciplines and engaging in a real-time entrepreneurial challenge

Earn your StartupReady certificate at your own pace during your time at Concordia.

How it works


01
Interactive Workshops

Complete a series of six FutureReady/GradProSkills workshops in the areas of project management, design thinking, customer discovery, entrepreneurship, pitching and prototyping.

Complete before Step 2:

  • Intro to Design Thinking
  • Intro to Customer Discovery/User Experience
  • Entrepreneurship 101
     

Complete before Step 3:

  • Prototyping and Usability Testing
  • Project Management
  • Pitching

Startup Course

You will have four weeks to complete How to Build a Startup: The Lean LaunchPad online course, which includes four weekly, 1-hour facilitated check-ins with the District 3 team.

Register for Cohort 1:
Fridays from 11-12 p.m. | Oct. 30, Nov. 6, Nov. 13 & Nov. 20

Register for Cohort 2:
Fridays from 11-12 p.m. | Jan. 22, Jan. 29, Feb. 5 & Feb. 12*

*note: the dates for Cohort 2 have changed and are now scheduled as listed above.

Entrepreneurial Challenge

You will have four weeks to complete How to Build a Startup: The Lean LaunchPad online course, which includes four weekly, 1-hour facilitated check-ins with the District 3 team.

Join a small group of carefully selected students for an immersive, six-week experience rooted in teamwork and problem-solving. This final step on the StartupReady pathway requires you to apply the skills and knowledge gained from the workshops and online course to a real-time challenge.

You will need to dedicate 3hrs/week to the StartupReady Entrepreneurial Challenge

Before entry to the Entrepreneurial Challenge, you will additionally need to complete:

  • Prototyping and Usability Testing
  • Project Management
  • Pitching

Being StartupReady

Upon completion of all three steps of Concordia’s StartupReady program, you will earn your StartupReady certificate and be ready to contribute to Montreal’s vibrant start-up community, and beyond.
