Rhodes Scholarships application process
About the Rhodes Scholarships
The Student Success Centre oversees the Concordia applications for this prestigious scholarship, awarded to 11 outstanding Canadian students (two from Quebec) every year. This post-graduation award funds a two-year Masters degree of the student’s choice at the University of Oxford in England.
The award was originally endowed in 1903 to develop outstanding leaders in public duty ‘for the world’s future’ who promote international understanding and peace. The Rhodes Scholarships continue to offer this life-changing study opportunity to those who excel in academia, as well as in character, leadership and commitment to service in their own community and beyond.
Essential eligibility criteria are:
- GPA above 3.8
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident (not a study Visa)
- Age must be under 25th birthday on Oct 1st 2019 for the 2018-19 competition
- Having received an undergraduate degree before taking up the scholarship, i.e. having 30 or fewer credits to complete at the time of application
Concordia’s three most recent Rhodes Scholars were Michael Noonan (2012, Dept. of Biology), Liliane Chamas (2009, Dept. of Biology and Science College) and Carol McQueen (1995, Dept. of History and Liberal Arts College).
